One of the winners of the MYX VJ Search 2018 is a proud Adamsonian. Syntheche “Kaye” Anne B. Reyes, a 4th-year AB Communication student was proclaimed winner together with another aspirant Samm Alvero. The two, chosen from around 1000 applicants and out of 12 finalists, were announced during a program held at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall Atrium last May 26, 2018. Kaye also won the BYS Makeup Challenge as brand ambassador of BYS Cosmetics, a top Australian makeup brand.
The contestants were judged according to how well they registered on cam, their work ethic and their personality. Kaye and Samm passed all these with flying colors.
After being named as a new MYX VJ, Kaye started working the 7-8am and 7-8pm shifts last June. She can now be seen on TV doing her spiels and showcasing her talent.
Asked about this huge feat of a Communication student, Ms. Ailene Ayson, chairperson of the Communication Department, said she feels proud that one of their students is given exposure on camera. “This is part of the department’s accomplishments and I hope it inspires future Falcons to enroll in the program. More than the marketing mileage, it proves that our hard work pays off and meets industry standards,” she further explained.
Kaye Reyes, daughter of a marine engineer and a businesswoman, won’t allow her VJ duties to interfere with her studies. In fact, she tries to balance them. “It’s all about time management. I value education because that’s what will support you in the future. I joined the search to inspire other people to live their dream. Kahit ano man ang pinagdadaanan, have the passion for it,” she articulated. Aside from being a video jockey, she also loves singing and applying makeup on herself and friends.
While she says that she exerted a lot of effort in pursuing her VJ dream, still she believes that “there’s a reason for everything. I accept whatever the Lord plans for me.”
The Adamson community warmly congratulates Kaye Reyes and the Communication Department on this rare and inspiring achievement.
