The Cultural Affairs Office (CAO) presented its first gallery offering of the semester in the form of La Milagrosa, an exhibit in honor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal at the AdU Art Gallery last August 15, 2018.
The show put on display Fr. Rolando “Choy” Limjoco, CM’s collection of the Miraculous Medal and its narrative as depicted in medals, paintings, statues, shadow boxes, glass bell domes and other forms creatively arranged and mounted within the gallery space.
Fr. Choy, as friends call him, is a Vincentian priest, a member of the Congregation of the Mission (CM). The Miraculous Medal was popularized by the Daughter’s of Charity (DC) after one of its members, Sr. Catherine Laboure, obtained its design in a nighttime apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The CM helped in its propagation and continues to spread its devotion up to this day as one of its major apostolates.
The viewing of the exhibit was preceded by a short program that started with a doxology and singing of the National Anthem by the AdU Chorale. Fr. William Encelan, CM, director of the Campus Ministry Office, gave the welcome remarks while Fr. Limjoco and Fr. Tim Cirujales, Jr., CM each gave a message regarding the exhibit.
Fr. Encelan, Sr. Martha Gamolo, DC, Mrs. Triccie Alfonso and Mrs. Marina San Pascual did the ribbon cutting ceremony. The Adamson University Quintet provided the music.
The exhibit is open to the public and runs until September 8.
