The event was well attended and featured several groups under the charge of CAO – the Brass Band, the Folk Dance Troupe, the String Orchestra, the Acoustic Band, the Chamber Orchestra and the Majorettes.
Under the baton of newly appointed conductor Reynato Resurreccion, Jr., the AdU Brass band played the Alvamar overture, Hey Jude – with Dan August Pangilinan Aranas as Alto Sax soloist – and other Beatles hits, Regine Velazquez top hits, Frank Sinatra, Carpenters, a Queen medley and Tunog Kalye with Mikee Agoncillo conducting. It also played Cold Hearted and Boom Boom as the Majorettes displayed their dance and twirling routines.
The AdU String Orchestra dished out its rendition of The Best of Abba and Libertango while the AdU Acoustic Band played Nina Simone’s Feeling Good and Natalie Cole’s Orange Colored Sky. Three talented young singers, namely, Giselle Malmis, Hazel Serrano and Charlene Jucom sang Till, Magalenha and Conga respectively to the combined accompaniment of the Chamber Orchestra and the Acoustic Band. For their part, the Folk Dance troupe performed Paragua, Paseo, Sinakiki, Aray, Karatong, Binasuan and Tinikling.
The featured groups are regular performers in university-wide events and are an integral part of the CAO’s goal of providing arts and culture to the school community, especially the students, for a holistic and balanced education. They enjoy full and partial scholarships. Ms. Nenita Dimapilis is the moving spirit behind the success of CAO’s various programs and projects.
