AdU hails best student leaders and organizations

Each year, outstanding student leaders and organizations of Adamson get the chance to be honored for special achievements through the now institutionalized event called the Student Awards. 

The Office for Student Affairs (OSA) held the Student Awards 2018 at the Midas Hotel, Pasay City last March 11, 2018. The Awards gave recognition the Top 10 Best Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) and Outstanding Student Leaders for the academic year 2017-2018 for their great contributions to the community.

With Soaring with Greatness through Excellent Service, Leadership, and Competence as theme, this year’s edition classified the awards into various categories to further recognize the outstanding leadership embodied by students in their respective fields.

The top administrators of the university were present in this event. In his opening remarks, University President Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM said that the achievements of the students are the answer to a comment that while the university levels up in terms of athletics, it should do the same for the quality of education. He also challenged the students to create projects that contribute to nation building as their leadership is crucial to the role of education for the future of our country.

The Office for Student Affairs awarded the Top 10 Best Student Organizations of the university to Adamson University Chemical Engineering Student Society (AdUChESS), Adamson University Computer Engineering Society (ACOES), Adamson University Junior Marketing Association (AdJMA), Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants - Adamson University (JPIA–AdU), ENACTUS Adamson University, Junior Financial Executives - Adamson University (JFINEX–AdU), Physics Society of Adamson University (PSAU), Adamson University Psychology Society (AUPS), Adamson University Civil Engineering Society (AdU–ACES), Ozanam Study Grant Program (OSGP), and Adamson University – Political Science Students United in Living out its Identity for Truth, Integrity, Knowledge, and Academic Supremacy (AdU–PULITIKA).

The 10 recipients of the Campus Leadership Award 2018 were Hideyuki Sato (AdU–Pulitika), Trishia Alexis Maingat (Adamson University Student Government - AUSG), Louise Stephen Jumawid (AUPS), Christalie Jan Canlas (JFINEX), Jay Ryan Cruz (AdJMA), Rosemarie Ortaleza (AUSG), Ronnel Rizafrente (JFINEX), Joie Elaiza Monedo (AUSG), Jhastine Navarro (Academic Scholars Alliance–AdU), and Kelly Isuan (AdUChESS).

The Campus Ministry Office (CMO) gave recognition to students who have greatly embodied the Vincentian spirit in their leadership. They were awarded the St. Lorenzo Ruiz Award – the highest award that is given to the student leaders who have manifested courage. CMO honored Ray Mark L. Gaviño and Angelina R. Panelo from Society of St. Vincent de Paul as well as Ivan Louie H. Villalva with this prestigious award. CMO also gave a Special Citation Award to a number of students.           

For the international students, the Office for University Relations handed the Campus Leadership Award to Solomon Supuruchukwu Abanobi, Elijah Nathaniel James, and Alaba Moat Masayan for their exemplary leadership and concern for the International Students’ Association of Adamson University (ISAAD). Furthermore, they also awarded the Sports Excellence Award to Ejike Lawrence Ugwoke of the AdU Soaring Falcons Men’s Football Team and the Invention Excellence Award to Bethesda Uchechukwi Owuama – Njoku and Kouadjo Kounalesse Nayo for their perfume creation.

Awards were also given to graduating athletes and for the best newsletters, activities, and researches of the student organizations.
