The Basic Education Department (BED) was awarded as champion in the annual Canticle ChoralFest held at St. Therese Chapel last February 13, 2018. The annual choral competition was part of the celebration of the 86th Founding Anniversary of Adamson University.
With the theme Mary’s Canticle: Inspiring the Clergy and the Consecrated Persons towards a Renewed Servant-Leadership, different colleges, the Basic Education Department and first-time competitor Senior High School Department performed different renditions of Let Me Be the Bearer of Your Love and a medley of Marian songs for their vocal battles.
Garnering second place was the College of Education and Liberal Arts which placed fourth in last year’s competition while the Canticle ChoralFest 2017 champion – the College of Business Administration – placed third.
Judges for this year’s competition were Mr. Gerry De Leon, composer and choir director; Mr. Jay-El Viteño, composer, singer and arranger; and Fr. Niño Andrade, OSA, music director and the composer of the contest piece Let Me Be the Bearer of Your Love.
According to Fr. Rock Joseph Enriquez, C.M, Canticle overall chairman and the director-chaplain of the Campus Ministry Office, the Canticle ChoralFest is dedicated to the clergy and consecrated persons and gives honor to their renewal and journey towards becoming true servant-leaders for the people of God.
The Canticle ChoralFest 2018 was organized by the Campus Ministry Office together with the Association of the Children of Mary Immaculate. (Maria Cristina Garbosa)
