Adamson University celebrates its 86th year with a bang

Adamson University celebrated its 86th founding anniversary differently from past anniversaries as it opened the festivities today, February 12, 2018, with a cheerdance competition featuring the loudest of cheers and the grooviest dance moves.

The 86th annual foundation week commenced with a ceremonial releasing of doves and balloons headed by University President, Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM; Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Venusmar C. Quevedo; and Dr. Brigida M. Octavio, dean of this year’s host college – the College of Business Administration.

Immediately following the opening ceremony was a performance by the UAAP Season 80 Cheerdance Competition champion, the Adu Pep Squad. Afterwards was the cheer dance competition proper among the various offices and colleges of the university. The panel of judges included talent scout Rollie Halagao, Mark Alvero, and Jeremy Lorenzo – AdU Pep Squad head coach.

The Office of the President, clustered with the College of Business Administration, emerged as champion with their theme of Philippine Festivals. The Vice President for Academic Affairs, grouped together with the College of Education and Liberal Arts, and the Junior High School wowed the audience with their Aloha-themed performance, garnering them the 1st place.

The Vice President for Financial Affairs, together with the College of Law, Graduate School, and the Human Resource Management and Development Office landed the 2nd place with their dance moves inspired by the beat of pop culture. The Vice President for Administrative Affairs and the Senior High School department got the 3rd place with their Pinoy pop beats while the Vice President for Student Affairs together with the College of Engineering landed 4th place with their military-themed routine.

More than that, different colleges and offices set up their respective booths with fun and informative activities. Different programs, conferences, and seminars will also be held by different colleges and departments. The 86th founding week will run until February 16, 2018 – Saturday, culminating in the Falcon Run 2018.
