Adamson University strengthens Intellectual Property development

Adamson University, in coordination with the World Intellectual Property Organization and The Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development, is keen on embracing innovations in technology particularly in Intellectual Property and Technopreneurship.
Last December 13-15, 2017, University President Fr. Marcelo V. Manimtim, CM and Vice President for Administrative Affairs Dr. Venusmar C. Quevedo attended the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Regional Conference for Presidents/Vice Presidents and Technology Transfer Officers of Universities and Research Institutions on Creating an Enabling Intellectual Property (IP) Environment for Technology Development, Management, and Commercialization in Osaka, Japan. This conference aimed to engage the top management of the universities and research institutions in a discussion on enabling IP environment for technology development, management and commercialization.
In connection with this, Adamson University has been invited by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) to be a participant in their IP Hub project called An Enabling IP Environment to Increase the Capacity of Developing and Least Developed Countries for Technology Development, Management, and Commercialization. Being among the 14 selected universities, Adamson University was known as one of the IP Spokes, which are the primary technology generators and beneficiaries of capacity-building activities under the said projects. The university underwent onsite and remote mentoring by international experts last March 27-31, 2017.
Furthermore, Adamson University has been selected as one of the 45 universities to undergo the Technology Business Incubator (TBI) preparatory phase under the Higher Education Institution Readiness for Innovation and Technopreneurship (HEIRIT) Program. The university was awarded during the 1st Philippine Technology Business Incubator Summit last November 23-24, 2017 in Cebu City.
