The Adamson University Art Gallery recently presented  Binhi ng Sining, an art exhibit showcasing the works of 28 talented young artists belonging to the Hagonoy Young Artist Guild (HAYAG) last January 16, 2018.

Led by its founder Wewen Flores, himself an artist, HAYAG exhibited the artworks of its protégés who had been undergoing training and art lessons from older artists. Still life, figurative paintings, landscapes and portraits comprised the body of works.

During the program, Institutional Development and External Affairs Office and University Museum and Archives director Raul Agner commended HAYAG in his opening remarks for its advocacy of developing young talents in their town and the success it has attained as proven by the artworks on display. He mentioned that “in Adamson, we are enriching technical education with cultural development because we believe that education, if holistic, results in a more balanced and broad-minded individual.”

Veteran artists Al Perez and Fil Delacruz, both from Hagonoy, each gave their inspirational message. While Perez was happy to see how lucky the young artists from his place are for having older artists to guide them, Delacruz encouraged them to be creative, resourceful and persevering in order to establish their careers. “Do not take the easy road. Take the hardest one and make a difference,” he advised.

Mr. Al Perez, Fil Delacruz, Carlos Cee Cadid, Raul Agner and Wewen Flores participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The exhibit, which also includes the works of guest artists Avic Zamora, Cesar Cruz, Nilo Badajos, Carlos Cee Cadid and Marc Salamat among others, will run until February 18, 2018. Admission is free.
