SIAS International University officials and partners visit Adamson

Officials from SIAS International University in Henan, China and their partner Santi Group came to Adamson University last October 11, 2017 to meet with top administrators for consultations and discussions for possible collaborative undertakings. Leading the SIAS delegation were Mr. Julian Yue, director of the Office of International Relations, and Prof. Wenchang Fang, International Affairs consultant. The Santi Group was composed of Ms. Xiaoying Tao, CEO, Mr. Songqi Xu, General Manager, Mr. Cuijun Yang, Director of HR, Ms. Fan Yang, Secretary, CEO Office and Mr. Kan Zhao, CEO Assistant.

The Adamson administrators who dialogued with them were by Bro. Henry Escurel, CM, treasurer; Dr. Catherine Q. Castañeda, VP for Academic Affairs; Dr.Venusmar C. Quevedo, VP for Administrative Affairs; Dr. Brigida Octavio, dean of the College of Business Administration; Engr. Evelyn Q. Raguindin, dean of the College of Engineering; Dr. Gliceria Lunag, dean of the College of Education and Liberal Arts; Dr. Liria DAcanay, dean of the College of Science; Dr. Servillano T. Marquez, dean of the Graduate School; Dr. Almira A. Tenorio, dean of the College of Nursing; Ms. Perlita Crucis, dean of the College of Pharmacy; and, Dr. Ramon Luber, chairperson of the Biology Department. They were assisted by Ar. Divina S. Aspiras, faculty of the College of Architecture; Mr. Mark Lawrence Gale, VPAA executive assistant; Ms. Liberty G. Rivera, secretary of the dean of the College of Architecture; and Ms. Helda B. Rañola, VPAA coordinator.

Taken up during the meeting were the exchange of faculty for programs on nursing, liberal arts, sciences – especially information technology, and engineering especially computer engineering; invitation to AdU deans to SIAS to discuss with their counterpart deans to work out 2+2 or 2+3 degree programs (transnational education), internship especially in business, IT, education, and engineering; faculty exchange or tram-tracking arrangements that can be worked out; possible industry immersion of AdU faculty in Chinese business enterprises; and other details such as the calendar year differences, consultancy issues, costs of travel and schedules of exchange faculty members.

Both groups presented a powerpoint presentation, with SIAS delegates presenting their school’s international offerings, programs, and activities and their AdU counterparts presenting the university’s vision, mission, goals and programs. Part of the discussions was the possible renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding signed five years ago between the two institutions.

Back in July 2008, the first MOU was signed between Adamson University and SIAS International University in which areas of cooperation between the two covered exchange of faculty and researchers, exchange of undergraduate and graduate students for research and study, exchange of instructional materials, organization of joint research projects, joint continuing education and development of cultural exchanges.
