Prepping the University’s ability to respond to disasters and calamities, the Adamson University community, spearheaded by the Physical Facilities and General Services Office (PFGSO), joins the Metro Manila Shake Drill 2017 on July 14, 2017.

The earthquake drill is a metro-wide simultaneous earthquake drill aimed to promote a culture of awareness among residents for a possible 7.2 magnitude movement of the West Valley Fault. The drill is organized by the Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) and managed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), and other agencies and stakeholders.

Adamson University for its part, will hold a simultaneous simulation of an earthquake in all of its buildings which will exhibit how the community is supposed to evacuate the premises if and when an earthquake strikes.

The Metro Manila Shake Drill is part of the Oplan Metro Yakal Plus, a contingency plan to be enacted in the event of a megadisaster. The protocols and procedures are patterned on the expected “Big One,” a movement of the West Valley Fault.

As part of the West Quadrant, along with Manila, Malabon, and Navotas, Adamson University’s directed evacuation and command center will be at the Intramuros Golf Course.
