Philosophy of the College of Nursing Nursing is the art and science of CARING for individuals, families, groups, and communities devoted to the promotion and restoration of health, prevention of disease or disability, alleviation of suffering or assisting individuals throughout the life guided by ethico-legal and moral principles. Health is optimal physical, psychosocial, social, spiritual and cultural well-being and is defined by the person within their culture. It is a dynamic multi-dimensional state. The person has an inherent right to optimal health and is responsible for maintaining health in relation to the environment. Nursing Education is consist of theoretical and related learning experience training provided to nursing students with the purpose of preparing to become competent professional nurses. Nursing Practice is the actual provision of nursing care. In providing care, the nursing students utilize the nursing care plan which is based on the client’s initial assessment. This is based around the specific nursing theory which will be selected as appropriate for the care setting. In providing nursing care the nursing students uses both nursing theory and best practice derived from nursing research. Nursing Research is the term used to describe the evidence used to support nursing practice. |
