For the fifth year in a row, the Information Technology and Information Systems Department continues to demonstrate annually its students’ innovative talents and search for the best Capstone project. This year’s edition was titled Capstone Project Exhibit 2018: InnovaTe & creaTe thru IT to Foster Change and was held last January 17, 2018 at the SV building’s central hallway. It aimed to cater to the everyday work of companies and schools. Some research projects, in fact, are already up in Google Play while others are being used by companies and special beneficiaries.

Headed by the department chairperson Mrs. Marvi L. Aresta-Bayrante, the exhibit featured 12 research projects of the IT & IS seniors. Some of these are Aliw Bata, a fun and interactive application that features the Philippine History and Guhit: Online Selling for Visual Arts Group, a platform to help artists land clients and sell their works online.

Prior to this year’s presentation, the research project titled OMgy: Online Management System for YMCA Makati developed by Allen Nicole Bagaporo, Robert Lansangan, Ma. Andrea Parpan, and Laurenz Umayam and headed by Dr. Leonard Alejandro was chosen for presentation at the 2017 SICASE: The 5th Seoul International Conference on Applied Science and Engineering held last December 5-7, 2017 in Seoul, South Korea. It was the first faculty-led research presented internationally.

Additionally, two more research projects will be presented at the SMEC Research Congress 2018 at the De La Salle - College of St. Benilde on February 22-23, 2018. These are VRISM: A Virtual Reality Tour of the Adamson University developed by Matthew Abiog, James Herico, Masatoshi Ono, and Glenn Marc Torres; and Web-based Management System for Miguelitos International Corporation developed by Rosette Bonilla, Aylin Dela Peña, Yhrla Potes, and Riona Chalice Recto. The latter is already being used by Miguelitos International Corporation.

The top three Capstone projects will be presented to the BSIT and BSIS Junior students on February 13, 2018 and the best one will be chosen for presentation at the 5th PSITE-NCR Research Symposium on March 16, 2018 at the University of Santo Tomas.
