The Adamson University Lady Falcons Volleyball team dominated the Power Smashers in four frames to break free from their slump in the Premiere Volleyball League Open Conference last July 12 at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

It was a big win for the Adamson squad after dropping their first two games in the PVL offseason tilt. The Lady Falcons showed a great outing, scoring 25-20, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22 in the four frames.

Lady Falcon Gema Galanza demonstrated great performance in the game dropping 17 points off 16 attacks in a block, but it was newcomer Chiara May Permentilla who proved to be the deciding factor, contributing a game-high 24 points. The five-foot-eight hitter finished the game, posting 19 attacks with three aces and a pair of killer blocks.

Permentilla is a new acquisition in the Lady Falcons' rotation, transferring from La Salle-Lipa. Last UAAP season, she was part of the University’s team B and is now out to prove her worth and cement her spot in coach Padda’s starting lineup for this incoming season.

The Power Smashers tried to make a late game comeback, overhauling a 5-11 deficit in the fourth frame with a 10-2 rally and taking a 15-13 lead.

But the San Marcelino squad managed to hold on and take the game at match point, 24-20. It was Permentilla who went in for the kill after penetrating a two-man block, thus taking the victory.

The Lady Falcons’ next game will be against the Lady Maroons and is scheduled on Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
