As part of the celebration of the 400 years of the establishment of the Vincentian Charism, Fr. Tomaž Mavrič, CM, Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission and president of the Vincentian Family Executive Committee  (VFEC) invites the Vincentian community worldwide to the Vincentian Family Symposium on October 12-15, 2017 at the Collegio Apostolico Leoniano in Rome, Italy.

The symposium will be a testament of the 400-year legacy of the charism and will be celebrated with His Holiness, Pope Francis, and the Vincentian Family from all over the globe. The theme of the symposium is "Welcome the Stranger," which will also be the focus of the three-day event.

Fr. Mavrič also stated in his invitation that the 400th anniversary of the charism provides the perfect opportunity for the Vincentian community to celebrate its heritage, to give thanks for all that has been done, and to develop plans for the future.

In his desire that the Vincentian Family in the Philippines be well represented in the symposium, just like in the past, Fr. Gregorio L. Bañaga, Jr., CM, former AdU president, current CM Provincial Visitor and Vincentian Family Coordinating Council (VFCC) chairman, has responded to Fr. Mavric's other call. That call is to organize and invite VFCC members to join the Vincentian Marian Pilgrimage component of the symposium from October 16-26.

The pilgrimage will provide the participants a chance to retrace the footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul and his collaborators, as well as visits the Marian shrines in Europe. The itinerary includes Berceau de Saint Vincent de Paul, St. Vincent Church, Basilique de Notre Dame de Buglose in Lourdes and Dax, the CM Mother House, Miraculous Medal Chapel, and the tombs of Blessed Rosalie Rendu and Blessed Frederick Ozanam in Paris. The pilgrimage will culminate in Fatima, Portugal, which is also celebrating the 100th anniversary of Our Lady's apparition this 2017.
