AdU Softbelles To Represent Philippines in Michigan

Ten members of the Adamson University women's Softball Varsity left for China last July 4, 2008 accompanied by Head Coach Ana Maria Santiago and Assistant Coach Sheirylou Valenzuela. The softbelles make up Team Manila which represented the country in this year's Asia Pacific Qualifying Tournament in Guangzhou, China, last July 7-14, 2008. The Adamsonian players are Mary Chris Gidalanon, Elma Parohinog, Elna Parohinog, Harlyn Joy Tubongbanua, Yrrla Jean Roja, Felixwinda Custodio, Marissa dela Cruz, Anavic Jugos, Marjorie Rescondo, and Cloiene Muyco.

The team won on a ten-day face-off with Guam, China, and Indonesia. These encounters were another record in the epic battle of winning the title to represent Asia Pacific in the World Series Tournament, which will be held in Kalamazoo , Michigan in August 2008.

During their courtesy call with the newly appointed Vice President for Student Affairs Fr. Kiko Magnaye, C.M., Coach Santiago said that hard training, hard work, perseverance, and prayers were their armor to win the battle against their Asian rivals. Valerie G. Espirit
