Ms. Vivian Lirio, librarian of the College of Law Library, has been elected as a director of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Group of Law Libraries (PGLL) for 2012-2013.
During the PGLL's regular meeting held last July 31, 2012 at the UP Law Library, the board moved for the filling up of a vacancy caused by the resignation of one of the directors. Lirio was nominated along with a librarian from the Congressional Library Bureau. The two were tied at first in the last PGLL elections, but Lirio eventually won by an affirmative vote of six with one abstention. She was then immediately issued an appointment and an invitation to attend the regular monthly meetings and other PGLL activities that are intended to advance the cause of Philippine law librarianship.
Ms. Lirio finished Library and Information Science at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and is currently taking up her Masters in Library and Information Science at UP Diliman. She joined the Adamson University Library Services Department in August 2001 and started working at the College of Law Library in January 2007.
PGLL is a national organization of law librarians established in 1980 to unite individual members and member-libraries and raise the standards of law librarianship in the country. It has over a hundred members at present nationwide.
