OVIM, CAO, and IDEA prep up for St. Vincent’s feast with essay and art contests

Date Posted: Sep 3, 2012 at 10:55:21 AM

Two traditional events held to honor St. Vincent de Paul on his feast day will make a comeback this year.

The Office for Vincentian Identity and Mission (OVIM), Cultural Affairs Office (CAO), and Institutional Development and External Affairs Office (IDEA) are launching once more the essay-writing and painting contests this month to usher in the university’s celebration of the feast of St. Vincent on September 27. Both contests are on the spot and will also be giving honor to the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the Congregation of the Mission and Daughters of Charity in the Philippines.

Both the essay writing and painting contests will focus on the theme Adamson University and Me: Enjoying the Fruits of 150 Years of Vincentian Presence in the Philippines. The essay writing contest will be on September 13, Wednesday, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN at Computer Lab 6 while the painting contest will be on September 14, Thursday, also from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the SV Ground Floor Hallway. The contests are open to all colleges, departments, and offices in the university, including the Basic Education Department, College of Law, and Graduate School. Winners will receive cash prizes and certificates while everyone who participated in the contests will get a certificate of participation.

Contest mechanics and reservation forms are available at OVIM (Ground Floor SV Building, east wing) and at CAO (beside AdU Theater). Deadline of submission of reservation forms will be September 5, Wednesday, at 5:00 PM.

For further inquiries, interested participants can contact OVIM at 524-2011 local 315 or 521-8360, CAO at 524-2011 local 255, and IDEA at 524-2011 local 122.

OVIM, CAO, and IDEA are looking forward to seeing the literary and visual ideas of the Vincentian community brought to life through these contests.
