The Computer Engineering (CpE) Department recently received a donation of two sets of Robotics modules worth PhP40,000 each from their partner institution Hytec Power Inc. In line with the department’s thrust for experiential learning, these modules will be used by the Robotics Team and by students who are doing their research, enhancing their creativity and innovation and thus addressing the department’s thrust for student nurturance.
The department also received two units of Netphone 701 Android phones which will be used as test phones for the Android programming and mobile applications development classes. These units were donated by the SMART Communications, Inc. via their SMART Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP). Two CpE faculty members, Engr. Lorenzo Sta. Maria, Jr. and Engr. Jay-Ar Lalata, participated in SWEEP’s five-day Android Training Program at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde recently. These phones offer more advanced computing ability and connectivity, and will be used in Embedded Systems, a new subject under the 2008 curriculum currently offered by the department.
