News - April 2008Four-day Work/Classes For Summer 2007-2008 (Compressed Workweek Scheme)Date Posted: Apr 2, 2008 at 02:27:48 AM In line with the serious efforts of the University to cut its energy cost, we are taking one step further to reduce our utility consumption by adopting on an experimental basis, the “Compressed Workweek Program” this summer 2008. Considering that just about 30% of students are enrolled during the summer term, whatever savings that can be brought about by the program can augment the budget for the other needs of the University that require economic support.
Also, the Administration believes that both employees and students will benefit from the scheme in terms of cost savings from daily transportation and meal expenses.
Finally, it will allow the school more time to conduct general cleaning of its entire premises and movable properties in preparation for the incoming school year. In compliance with the requirements of the CHED, DOLE – NCR, and agreement with the AUFEA, the University is implementing the Compressed Workweek Scheme this Summer 2008 under the following guidelines and limitations:
Guidelines
1. Covered Period of the Compressed Workweek Scheme
1.1 Implementation and enforcement of the Compressed Workweek Scheme shall be from April 15, 2008 until May 23, 2008.
1.2. Employees are to resume observing the regular work schedule on May 26, 2008.
2. Class Schedules
2.1. Classes are to be held for 2.5 hours from Tuesday– Friday for a 3-unit subject.
2.2. Class schedules are as follows:
2.3. All lecture classes are to be held at the ST and SV Buildings.
2.4. Checking of faculty attendance will be on a per hour basis.
3. Work Schedule in the Offices and BED Faculty
3.1. Employees are to report to work from Tuesday – Friday and shall adjust their work schedule according to any of the following options:
Schedule A
Office Schedule: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Schedule B
Office Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
To cut down on electricity cost, the departments are advised to adopt a common work schedule for their staff. However, personnel assigned at the Library, Clinic, Laboratories, and HR-Faculty Attendance Unit will be allowed a different set of schedules other than the above in order to accommodate the needs of students enrolled in different class schedules. The Heads of concerned departments are given a free hand to arrange the schedule of their respective staff provided that the 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. work shift is covered and all employees have rendered the expected 10 hours per day work schedule.
3.2. For purposes of documentation, all office Heads are instructed to submit their adjusted summer work schedule and that of their co-academic staff to HRDO Records Section on or before April 10, 2008.
3.2.1. The policy on timekeeping (i.e. tardiness, absences, under time) is still enforced.
3.2.2. Flexi/overtime application and the holding of weekend activities inside the school premises is highly discouraged during the summer period.
4. Exclusions
