The Lady Falcons didn’t give an iota of chance to the Lady Eagles to survive their fierce onslaught. Warding off Ateneo Lady Eagles’ spirited challenge through tenacious defense and deadly scoring was the factor that made Adamson University’s Lady Falcons win Game 1 of the best-of-three finals of the Shakey’s V-League yesterday at the The Arena in San Juan City.
Adamson’s guest player, Neriza Bautista, notched 30 hits with her great spiking strength, while Rissa Laguilles contributed 16 attacks, and Benting finished with 12 points for the University. Round scores were 25-7, 25-14, 23-25, 25-22. Though the Ateneans gave a close fight during the 3rd and 4th rounds, Adamsonians’ 1st and 2nd rounds’ investment served to their advantage.
“Actually, I’m not feeling well but I still gave my all because we believe we can beat them,” said the 22-year-old Bautista to local sports correspondents. Bautista reportedly played even with bum stomach.
The league’s elusive crown might be won by the Lady Falcons if they continuously play superb on Friday, 4 p.m., still in The Arena.
