Founder’s Son Donates Books
Date Posted: Jun 2, 2008 at 02:11:41 AM
Though the Adamsons no longer own and run the University, they still find a way to support the school founded by their old man 76 years ago.
Accompanied by his wife and daughter during his visit to AdU last year, Dr. Lucas George Adamson, son of the Founder George Lucas Adamson pledged to donate books to the University Library.
True to his word, eight boxes of books arrived last April 22, 2008. All in all, the boxes contained 227 books that cover various topics: fitness and health, engineering, travel, fiction, and reference books for architecture, fashion, and design.
According to Ms. Helen Ordoñez, Head of Reader’s Services, the books are now being processed at the Technical Services Section and will eventually be included in the library’s growing collection. So far, the librarians have finished processing 6 boxes. As soon as they wind up with their work, these treasured gifts from the Adamson family will be made available to library users.
Mrs. Erlinda Gonzalez, Director of Libraries and Fr. Gregg L. Bañaga, Jr., C.M., University President, expressed their appreciation and gratitude for the generosity of the Adamson family. The students in particular, and the Adamson community as a whole, are the ultimate beneficiaries of the donation.
