Adamson University Lady Falcons unleashed late-game heroics to unseat the defending champion University of Santo Tomas Lady Tigresses in an epic battle at the Nike Summer League 2008 championship game, 73-61, last June 13 at the Philsports Arena, Pasig City.
Daphnie Tecson led the Lady Falcons finishing with 17 points and 6 rebounds, while MVP Katherine Sandel had a brilliant game with 15 markers, 5 boards, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Lady Tigresses’ Nikki Leonardo provided 13 points and Remia Buenacosa supported with 12 markers.
UST started the first quarter with the lead, 23-19, but the San Marcelino-based Lady Ballers had a momentum shift resulting to the lead in halftime. Adamson continued the downpour at the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Tigresses by eight.
The Lady Falcons had their sweet revenge on the Lady Tigresses, from which they received their lone defeat on the preliminaries.
Meanwhile, De la Salle University tripped Philippine College of Criminology, 63-53, in their battle for third matchup.
