Chua, Lamagna, Escurel New BOT Members

Date Posted: Jul 2, 2008 at 01:45:11 AM

Amb. Francis Chua, Dr. Carmen Lamagna, and Bro. Henry Escurel, C.M. are the newly elected members of the Board of Trustees of the Adamson-Ozanam Educational Institutions, Inc. (AOEII). Members of the BOT-AOEII set and approve policies, budgets, and strategic plans of the Adamson University. It has 10 members and 4 executive councils (VPA, VPAA, VPSA, and VP Finance).

Amb. Chua is currently the honorary president of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc., the biggest organization of Filipino-Chinese businessmen. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Philippines, Hwa Kiaw University of Fookien, China, Philippine Institute of Quezon City, and Seng Kuang High School. One of his significant projects is spearheading the “Buy Pinoy Campaign,” which promotes the growth of Philippine industries and opens up jobs to Filipino workers.

Mrs. Lamagna is treasurer and board member of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific. She’s also an executive member of the International Association of University Presidents. She has received several prestigious awards, including the Presidential Award for Overseas Filipinos conferred by Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2006.

Bro. Escurel is a true-blue Adamsonian who took his M.A. and Ph.D. in the University. He used to be the University Treasurer from 1983 to 1987. He also served as University Registrar for an extended period and today is the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

“The Board of Trustees will serve as link to the Board of Incorporators and other board members to report on the current situation of the University. For my part, I will serve as a bridge to discuss the academic phase of the university and to strengthen its academic stability,” Bro Escurel declared. Valerie “Lei” Espiritu
