Prof. Belinda Conde of the Mathematics Department will head to Turkey to attend the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction (WCCI) 13th World Conference in Education (2nd Biennial World Conference) slated on September 2-7, 2008 at Maritim Pine Beach Resort in Antalya.
Prof. Conde is one of the presenters and official delegates from the Philippines. On Sept. 3, she will deliver a talk on the Vincentian Center for Social Responsibility (VCSR), the social development arm of the University’s Integrated Community Extension Services Office that coordinates University-wide assistance to the marginalized.
Dubbed Creating a Global Culture of Peace: Strategies for Curriculum Development and Implementation, this global meeting is an opportunity to network with educators from at least 25 different countries. This assembly is ‘a response to the UN resolution to renew commitment to promote a just and peaceful culture across the global community.’
This world conference is part of WCCI’s tradition, which ‘aims to bring together professionals through dialogues as well as presentations to demonstrate the commitment to respect human rights; practice non-violence, tolerance and conflict reconciliation; promote gender equality; and, communicate information and knowledge by providing education for all.’
