“I didn’t know we were first educated by Greeks,” blurted an alumna when she first read the article titled Evdoxia: Sole First Lady of Adamson University in the University’s first quarterly magazine dubbed Touchstone. The article was an interview with AdU founder George Lucas’s wife, Evdoxia Adamson, by University President Fr. Gregg Bañaga during his visit to Marbella, Spain.
In his page 2 Note, Institutional Development and External Affairs Officer-in-Charge Raul Agner stated that “Touchstone rolls off on a quarterly basis. It is hoped that the articles written here will serve as touchstones that can guide Adamsonians as we tackle our respective roles in an academic institution and in society. Maybe, 25 years from now, they will serve as material for a centennial coffee table book.”
Touchstone’s premier run covered June-August feature articles. The next issue is set to come out this November covering the period from September to November 2008. For every school year, a total of four (4) issues will be published.
Other articles of the June-August issue were Ways to Keep Overseas Filipino Workers’ Families Stronger by Dr. Cleofe Palac, Paper Abstract of IE Department on Ergonomic Intervention in Manual Handling of Harvested Pineapples in the Philippines, The AUTRDC by Kannika Peña and Sharleen Banzon, Filipino Concept of Subjective Well-Being by Dr. Ma. Gladiola Santos, The Vincentian Center for Asia-Pacific by Fr. Serafin Peralta, C.M., among others.
A digital copy of the quarterly magazine can now be downloaded from the University’s official website www.adamson.edu.ph.
(Touchstone is a quarterly supplement of The Adamson News and is distributed to AdU offices, students, select big companies, local-and foreign-based alumni, government agencies, and various school libraries in the country.)
