Adamson University’s College of Law, represented by Atty. Antonio H. Abad, signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Hospicio de San Jose, represented by Sr. Ma. Socorro Evidente on September 9 at the Hospicio de San Jose, Manila. The Hospicio, an orphanage that sits on an island on the Pasig river, sought legal assistance from AdU’s College of Law to obtain judicial declaration of abandonment on children under the Hospicio’s care who may need it.
In line with this, the agreement has stated that the law school shall render legal representation for the Hospicio de San Jose in cases involving “declaration of abandonment” of the children concerned. Also, the cases shall be handled by the Law School on a “pro bono basis”. However, court-related costs shall be assumed by the orphanage.
Both parties have designated certain coordinators for the said partnership agreement. For this purpose, Atty. Noel Ferrer was assigned in behalf of the College of Law and Josefina Dimalaluan in behalf of the Orphanage. Atty. Agnes Rivera, Director of the Legal Affairs Office of Adamson University, accompanied Atty. Abad as witness to the signing of the agreement.
The agreement takes effect on September 9, 2008 and will be reviewed after some time for possible extension. Chat Gagola
