RSO Holds 2008 Sportsfest

Date Posted: Dec 2, 2008 at 07:05:46 AM

The SV Quad, seldom filled with big sports gatherings, pulsated with the opening program and sports activities last November 24, 2008 as students representing Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) assembled to compete in different events. Their unique jerseys and uniforms—made more colourful with the presence of attractive muses—lent a festive look to the quadrangle. The parade from the SV Quadrangle to the ST Quadrangle marked the start of one of the most awaited events of the year for Adamsonians, dubbed Building Team, Building Dream.

The celebration opened with an invocation by Mr. Arturo Baloso of the IRED Department, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, and Adamson Hymn led by the AdU Band. Atty Julius Babista, director of the Office for Student Affairs (OSA), delivered the opening remarks. Next came the much-awaited highlight of the event, the presentation of the muses of the different organizations. The Adamson University Chemical Engineering Students Society (AdUCHESS) muse won the Ms. RSO Sportfest 2008 title. The four major student organizations of the University, namely, Academic Organization, Co-Academic Organization, Socio-Civic Organization, and the Religious Organization participated in the event. The event was made more dramatic and meaningful with the lighting of torch—a symbol of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and unity—proudly carried by Mr. Urgent Ludovice.

In spite of the late afternoon bad weather, the community managed to push on with the other activities with participants eagerly joining the games.

The University’s very own Pep Squad sampled a performance excerpted from their contest piece in the recent UAAP Cheer Dance competition. Rose Ann M. Villamor and Dennis M. Gubi
