A two-day training-workshop dubbed Research Mentors Training: Management and Teaching Research Course was held on November 4-5, 2008 at the Engineering Conference Room sponsored by the Center for Research, Evaluation, and Continuing Education headed by Engr. Venusmar Quevedo, Director of CRECE. The activity was presided by Ms. Fe Josefa G. Nava, PhD from the University of the Philippines, as resource speaker.
Different professors from the colleges of Architecture, Business Administration, Engineering, Liberal Arts, Pharmacy, and Sciences participated in the training-workshop.
The first day of the training-workshop centered on the overview of the content of a research course which are the following: the role of mini-thesis/paper in undergraduate education; the challenges of research; the research process; the criteria in identifying the research problem; important role of the review of related literature; quantitative and non-quantitative research designs; and sampling of data collection.
The second day focused on the parts of the research paper and the students' evaluation and management in research undergraduate course. Workshops on student evaluation and management in research course followed the talk. The participants also prepared individual personal action plan on management and teaching of research course.
A Certificate of Appreciation was rewarded to Dr. Nava with Bro. Henry Escurel, C.M., VP for Academic Affairs and Engr. Venusmar Quevedo in attendance during the closing ceremony.
