Adamson University Turns 77

Date Posted: Feb 2, 2009 at 06:51:12 AM

Adamson University will be celebrating its 77th Foundation week on February 7-14, 2009. A series of activities has been lined up for the occasion starting with the Grand Alumni Homecoming on February 7 at 4 p.m. The homecoming celebrates the Diamond Jubilee of the establishment of the Adamson University Alumni Association, Inc.

Other big events are the Institutional Parade, Canticle Chorale Fest, and Search for Bb. at Ginoong Adamson on Feb. 12, the Institutional Awards on Feb. 13, and the Opening of the Adamson Alumni Basketball League at the University Gym. To be participated in by alumni, guest players, and former Falcons who have made a name in professional basketball, the league lasts until March 14. Each of the ten colleges, the Basic Education Department, the Student Government, and the Administration have their own set of activities.

Adamson University was founded by Dr. George Lucas Adamson, a Greek chemist, on June 20, 1932. It was turned over to the Vincentians – priests and brothers of the Congregation of the Mission (C.M.) – in 1964, thus becoming a Catholic educational institution. In 2007, it celebrated its Diamond Jubilee and was declared by the National Historical Institute as a Historic Site.
