After months of preparation and planning, the 1st Adamson Alumni Basketball League finally kicks off on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Adamson Gym. Right after the opening program and ceremonial toss, the first game—the Adamson Falcons vs. the Alumni Team—is ready to rumble.
Twelve teams have signed up for the AABL, which will be played until March 14. Among the star alumni-players who will see action are Kenneth Duremdes, Mark Andaya, Eddie Laure, Melvin Mamaclay, and Al Cahanding.
Organized by the Office for Institutional Advancement (OIA) director Dr. Lizelle Villanueva and staff, the league is meant to encourage alumni to reconnect with their Alma Mater, to foster camaraderie, and to drum up support for the University’s scholarship, community services and physical facilities projects. Assisting the OIA in this big event are the Adamson University Alumni Association, Inc., the different alumni chapters, the different colleges, university organizations, and the university community.
Major sponsor is Mega Packaging Corporation while media supporters include the Free Press, Millicent Productions, DZSR Sports Radio 918 AM, and the Philippine Sports Commission.
