Students from the South Manila Inter-Institutional Consortium (SMI-IC) schools gathered last February 18, 2009 at the Lyceum of the Philippines JPL Hall of Freedom for the 2nd Ethics Bowl Competition. Adamson University reaped the 1st Place with Prima Angela Sarmiento, Kathleen Kay Blanca, and Reshel Amor Apigo ably representing Adamson University. Debate questions focused on current issues about ethics. Coach-professors were Prof. Darlene Demandante, Prof. Raniel Reyes, and Katrina Pia Sales.
The Ethics Bowl combines the excitement and fun of a competitive tournament with a valuable educational experience for undergraduate students. The format, rules, and procedures observed in this competition have been developed to model widely acknowledged best methods of reasoning in practical and professional ethics.
In 2008, AdU became host to the first SMI-IC Ethics Bowl. This year's participating schools were College of Saint Benilde, De La Salle University-Manila, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Philippine Christian University, St Paul University-Manila, St Scholastica's College, and University of the Philippines-Manila. JCM
