Free Form, a solo show by Arthur de la Cruz featuring his abstract works, is ongoing at the Adamson University Art Gallery. It opened last February 27, 2009, attended by the university community and guests from outside of AdU. The exhibit runs until March 19, 2009.
On show are “City of Dreamers,” “Concrete Jungle,” “Spiritual Outbursts,” “Frozen Faith,” “Soul Mates,” “Edge of the World,” “Contemplative Space,” “Contemplative Space #11,” “Contemplative Space #2,” and “Contemplative Space #14,” all done in mixed media on canvas. Dela Cruz’s mainly nonfigurative works are characterized by a grainy texture and broad color fields so that each artwork resembles a rough landscape as viewed from above. The spiritual content of the artworks presents itself for they evoke feelings and concepts of asceticism and austerity one is likely to find in the vast inner deserts and wilderness of one’s soul.
The exhibit is open to the public. Interested parties may contact the Cultural Affairs office at 524-2011 local 255.
