Scholars’ Week Celebrated

Date Posted: Mar 2, 2009 at 06:19:07 AM

The Office for Student Assistance and Scholarships (OSAS), headed by Ms. Alice P. Quilicot, organized an activity called “The AdU Scholar: Soaring High @ 77” last February 26-28. This was a special day for all university scholars as they took a well-deserved break from their academic and office responsibilities.

A Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Joel Rescober, C.M. started off the three-day event that also featured booths exhibiting “SMART Shopping: Shopping for a Cause (UKAY for SCHOLARS).”

On February 26, two consecutive seminars were also held: “Mass Aerobics and Arnis Demonstration-Talk” and “Wellness” lectured by Ms. Roselle C. Diu, PTRP-RMT, Ms. Lindsey S. Gebert, RMT, Mr. Ariel Ramos and PE Prof. Renato Añasco. Another talk on Social Responsibility was delivered by Dr. Casimiro A. Dulay, SSVP-OSGP alumnus. Both seminars were held at OZ-AVR.

In addition, a masquerade ball which showed glam and excitement among AdU scholars, was held last February 27 at the ST Quadrangle. This was followed by the community outreach activity at Payatas the next day. Part of AdU’s community extension services, it was participated in by different scholars. An inspirational message was given by Rev. Fr. Rowen Carlos, C.M., the Parish Priest of Ina ng Lupang Pangako Parish.

Adamson University’s scholars are composed of the AdU Band, AdU Chorale, AdU Athletes, AdU Dance Troupe, AdU Pep Squad, Adamson University Financial Aid Program (AUFAP), Academic Scholars Alliance of AdU (ASA-ADU), and Society of St. Vincent de Paul-Ozanam Study Grant Program (OSGP) or the working scholars, better known as student assistants (SAs).
