The farmers who have been fighting for the CARP Extension with Reforms (CARPER), through the Archdiocesan Ministry for Labor Concerns of the Archbishop of Manila, have expressed their gratitude to Adamson University for the accommodation and support given by the University’s staff and students during their Manila stop last March 9, 2009.
In a letter to University President Fr. Gregorio L. Bañaga Jr., C.M. dated March 10, 2009, Rev. Fr. Enrico Martin F. Adoviso stated that their group was deeply touched by the Adamsonian community’s concern for the 170 farmers from Sumilao, Banasi, Calatagan, and Quezon. The University opened their gates to their farmers for meals and rest, and later on paid tribute to them with a small program and film showing.
Adamson University is just one of the many campus stops of the farmers in their quest to gather support for CARPER and finally gain ownership of the land they have been tilling. The Lupang Hinirang, Lupang Hinarang march has received critical support from various sectors, all joining for the call for CARPER’s swift implementation.
