As part of its marketing program, the College of Science launched its Gawad Medalya Project last March 2009 to outstanding high school graduates.
The objective of the project is two-fold: to recognize outstanding high school achievers in science and mathematics by awarding them with the Adamson University Medal of Excellence in Science and Mathematics, and to promote the University as a vanguard of excellence in these fields. "This is a way of showing how we value the honing of skills among our youth,” says COS Dean Dr. Ma. Gladiola Santos.
For its inaugural launch, five high schools were asked to submit nominees for the awards. Chosen recipients of the medals were Mikaela Eloisa D. Mendoza from Paco Catholic School HS Department and Jan Harold Mercado Alcantara from V. Mapa High School.
The project will be fully implemented this school year 2009-2010 and the college expects to reach out to more high schools to give recognition to more deserving graduating high school students. “Eventually, in the future, we hope to expand this project by granting scholarships as well to the recipients,” Dean Santos added.
