Dr. Sami Al-Hamidi, VP for Northern Emirates of the Adamson University Alumni Association-UAE Chapter took the first slot of this school year's Alumni Forum, a program of the Office for Institutional Advancement (OIA) which provides a venue for Adamson alumni to share inspirational thoughts, words, and experiences among our students.
Last June 17, 2009, Dr. Al- Hamidi, a true-blooded Adamsonian (Industrial Engineering ‘88, Management Engineering ‘89 and PhD Management ‘94) gave a talk to selected Industrial Engineering students at the Engineering Conference Room from 10:00AM to 12:00 noon. The talk was followed by an open forum where students candidly asked success and empowerment tips from the very accomodating and amiable speaker. Engr. Maida Dela Cueva, Chairperson of IE Department and Engr. Jesus Manalastastas, Dean of the College of Engineering were in attendance as well.
Dr. Al-Hamidi shared with students stories of his mostly good times in Adamson and some unforgettable experiences he had while in the Philippines. He also said he will always love the Philippines as he is married to a Filipina, also an alumna of Adamson University, with whom he has six beautiful children.
In the afternoon of the same day, Dr. Al-Hamidi interviewed four fresh Architecture graduates at the President’s Office Conference Room whom he eventually accepted for hiring at the Emirates Fire Fighting Equipment Factory (FIREX) in Dubai which he manages. Ms. Susan Mondano of the Placement Office facilitated the initial interview of the applicants prior to Dr. Al-Hamidi’s coming.
Imbued with a true Adamsonian-Vincentian heart, Dr. Al Hamidi donated $1,500 for the general scholarship fund. Another poor but deserving student will have the chance to finish college as he pledged in the presence of University President Fr. Gregorio L. Bañaga Jr., CM and Dr. Villanueva to support him until he finishes the course.
