The Cultural Affairs Office teamed up with Se7enth Stage Production House, STI Ensemble and The Se7enth Stage Ensemble to present Oedipus the King, a stage play based on Sophocles’ classic Greek epic. The play opened last July 16, 2009 at the Adamson University Theater. University President Fr. Gregg L. Bañaga Jr., C.M., Campus Ministry Director Fr. Bernie Diaz C.M., and Mr. Lito Casaje were among the guests during the opening.
The play was adapted and directed by Mr. Mel Magno, who also performed the role of Tiresias onstage. The multi-talented Ruben Uy played the title role of Oedipus, the eighth actor to do so. Alongside Uy was Paw Diaz, a young star of ABS-CBN taking on the role of Jocasta. The STI Ensemble formed part of the chorus.
After the curtain call, an interactive session between Mr. Magno, the actors and the audience took place. Mr. Magno expressed his delight over the success of the play and thanked those who came to watch. – Maricris T. Gali
