Another Falcon came back to its nest as Engr. Luis Portugal, an Electrical Engineering (1985) graduate of Adamson University and currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Adamson University Alumni Association-United Arab Emirates (AUAA-UAE). He recently visited the campus and gave a seminar on basic digital photography at the OZ AVR last August 20, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. The seminar was conducted through the facilitation of the Cultural Affairs Office.
Engr. Portugal, who is also a founding member of the Emirates Group Photography Club (EGPC), shared tips and lessons that beginners should learn and remember whether they plan to use photography as a hobby or as a future profession. The three elements he stressed as key were interest, technique, and composition. Of these three, the engineer says the most important is composition as a great shot would rely on the harmony and combination of the elements in a photograph.
Photography allows Engr. Portugal to express his artistic side. He studied photography with Lightform, a UAE-based Filipino photography club and later became Lightform’s director of Advanced Photography. In February 2008, he was asked to co-found EGPC and became its head for training. He has since become one of the most sought trainer for the club and photographer for some of the company’s major events.
