AUFEA Celebrates New Decade of Unionism with General Assembly

Date Posted: Sep 2, 2009 at 02:36:25 AM

A better and stronger union is what the Adamson University Faculty and Employees’ Association (AUFEA) hopes to achieve in ten more years as it held its General Assembly last August 28, 2009 at the AdU Theater. The theme for this year’s gathering was “Into a New Decade Towards a Better Unionism.”

The assembly began with a Mass celebrated by Fr. Andrew Bayal, C.M., VP Student Affairs. University President Fr. Gregg L. Bañaga, Jr., C.M. delivered an inspirational message to the members of the AUFEA, challenging them to work further with the University in keeping the institution afloat as tougher times still present themselves in the country.

Guest of Honor for the afternoon was Marikina City Mayor Maria Lourdes C. Fernando. Adjudged as one of the outstanding mayors of the country governing an outstanding city as well, Mayor Fernando delivered the keynote speech of the afternoon, stressing the need for a vision to harness the association’s vision and emphasizing people empowerment by having the ability to move people forward.

Mayor Fernando also presided over the induction of the AUFEA’s new members and was assisted by Ana Liza Collado and Norma Bueno, members of the AUFEA Membership Committee. The induction was followed by the President’s Report, delivered by AUFEA President Prof. Orestes de los Reyes, Jr. A report on the financial standing of the association was then delivered by Prof. Ma. Cristina Tabuloc, AUFEA Treasurer.

The color of the day was yellow, to signify hope, and members came to the assembly decked in yellow outfits. A fun raffle game capped the assembly. Yael Esperat
