Two of Adamson University’s varsity teams made it known in Iloilo City that the Falcon is a force to be reckoned with in the latest staging of the University Games (Unigames) held last October 24-30, 2009. Central Philippine University (CPU) hosted the fourteenth edition of the games.
The women’s varsity team brought their winning streak from Luzon to Visayas as they drubbed once more the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws, 79-77, in the women’s basketball event. Despite the close battle, which had to go into overtime, the Lady Falcons prevented the Lady Tams from collecting the champion’s trophy just as it did to them during the UAAP championship.
The women’s softball team was also riding high when they demolished Rizal Technological University, 3-0, in the inaugural championship of the event. The team earlier blanked out Ateneo de Manila and CPU before serving another bagel to the Mandaluyong-based lady batters in the finals.
With their Unigames win, the basketball team also cut out FEU’s attempt in defending their crown, which was also the same scenario in the UAAP. On the other hand, the softball team hopes to continue their winning form as the second half of UAAP Season 72 starts this second semester. Yael Esperat
