Adamson Deans Garner Honors from Respective Schools

Date Posted: Jan 9, 2010 at 06:21:56 AM

Two deans from Adamson University’s academic departments have been given high honors by their respective alma mater for their professional achievements.

Graduate School Dean Jose Genaro Yap-Aizon, Ph.D. was recently given the Most Outstanding Atenean in Education award by the Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) during the Alumni Homecoming event last December 5, 2009 at the LRC Garden inside the university’s campus in Zamboanga City. Dean Yap-Aizon is a true-blue Zamboangueño, having finished two undergraduate degrees at the city’s colleges before finishing his Master of Arts in English at ADZU in 1997. He finished his Master of Arts in English at ADZU in 1997. He has taught at ADZU, Western Mindanao State University (WMSU, also in Zamboanga City), and the Philippine Normal University prior to his stint at Adamson, where he became dean in 2008. He also has a PhD in Language Education from WMSU and is currently a candidate for PhD Research and Evaluation from the University of the Philippines-Diliman.

College of Nursing Dean Naressia Seludo-Ballena is second academic administrator to be given alumni honors this year. Dean Ballena was chosen by the Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) as one of its outstanding alumni for this year’s Grand Alumni Homecoming. The award was bestowed upon her during the ceremonies at OFLU’s Valenzuela campus last December 12, 2009. Dean Narish, as she is usually called, studied Nursing at OLFU and graduated in 1991. She received her master’s degree in Nursing from the Manila Central University and her doctorate in Education from the Trinity University of Asia. She became dean of nursing, one of the largest colleges in Adamson, in November 2005.

Adamson University is fiercely proud of the achievements of its administrators and extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dean Yap-Aizon and Dean Ballena.
